The details
Every fact comes with what it means, so you don’t need to play to follow along.
What’s in the set
- Tiles
- 152
- Exactly the 152 tiles American mahjong is played with.
- Jokers
- Included
- Wild tiles that can stand in for others. American mahjong can’t be played without them.
- Blank tiles
- None
- No plain spare tiles.
- Flower tiles
- Numbered
- The 8 flower tiles have small numbers in the corner, which some players like for sorting.
How they look
- Color
- Essential
- The color of these tiles.
- Back
- White, solid
- The side the other players see. An even, solid color. It looks the same either way up, so a tile never shows upside down.
- Pictures
- Traditional
- The style of the pictures on the tiles. Classic pictures, close to the look of older tiles.
- Dragons
- Letters
- Three kinds of dragon, one to go with each suit. Each is marked with a letter. You can tell the three apart without looking at the color.
- 1 Bam
- A bird
- The first bamboo tile. Most brands draw it as a bird.
- Build
- Single layer
- Cut from one piece, not layers bonded together.
Size and weight
- One tile
- 1.18 × 0.94 × 0.51 in (30 × 24 × 13 mm)
- One tile, tall × wide × thick. Full size.
- Weight
- Not listed
- The brand doesn’t publish it. Owners can add theirs below.
